The APPG for London is a forum for MPs and Peers to work together on a cross-party basis to strengthen the capital's voice in Parliament. The group’s purpose is to promote the capital in the interests of all Londoners. 

London Councils provides the secretariat to the group on behalf of London government including the Mayor of London and the London Assembly. The group is listed on the APPG Register.

APPG meetings are open to MPs, Peers and representatives of organisations interested in and affected by the issues being discussed. To hear about future meetings, sign up to our mailing list.

AGM – Monday 4 March 2024

Officers were elected for the year ahead at the APPG for London's AGM. We were also joined by Alison Griffin, Chief Executive, London Councils who gave a presentation on the capital's devolution story and spoke with MPs about what further devolution in London could look like.

Private roundtable with the Housing Ombudsman – Monday 29 January 2024

Social housing provides secure, affordable homes for hundreds of thousands of Londoners. However, too many social homes are in inadequate condition and tenants do not always receive the quality of support they need and deserve. Ahead of regulatory changes from April 2024, the APPG for London and Housing Ombudsman held a private roundtable with social housing providers.

Apprenticeships and social mobility – Monday 13 November 2023

Apprenticeships are an important means of social mobility, however London has seen a decline in the number of young people starting apprenticeships since the introduction of apprenticeship levy. This is concerning given London's higher than average youth unemployment levels and the cost of living crisis. This joint meeting of the APPG for London and the APPG for Apprenticeships examined what can be done to ensure apprenticeships continue to be one way of boosting social mobility both in London and across the country.

London’s housing affordability crisis –  Monday 17 July 2023

Housing in London is becoming considerably less affordable, with demand for properties far outstripping supply. The APPG for London heard new research from Savills and LSE into the supply of private rented sector accommodation in London as well as the latest London borough homelessness survey data, followed by a panel discussion. Summer reception  Monday 26 June 2023

The APPG for London brought together London MPs, Peers and guests from across London local government, business, charities, academia and the media at our summer reception. We were joined by speakers including Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and Minister for Housing and Homelessness Felicity Buchan.

AGM – Monday 24 April 2023

Officers were elected for the year ahead at the APPG for London's AGM. We were also joined by guest speaker Martin Machray, Executive Director of Performance for London, NHS England who gave an update on current health issues in the capital.

At this event in partnership with London Youth, MPs and Peers heard first-hand accounts from young Londoners about the challenges they face and the ways in which rising costs are affecting their daily lives.

The APPG for London and APPG for Ending Homelessness met to discuss the strategies in place to support homeless Londoners and policy priorities for reducing homelessness in the capital. Speakers included Jamie Carswell, Co-Chair of the London Housing Directors' Group, Jasmine Basran, Head of Policy and Campaigns, Crisis and Jacob Quagliozzi, Director of England, Housing Justice.
